Nathdwara Rajasthan Tours - Tour of Nathdwara is a very famous Hindu pilgrimage site.
This is
one of the most eminent pilgrimage shrines of India, preserving
Krishna as Govardhana Giridhari.
Nathdwara is situated 48-km
northeast of Udaipur in Rajasthan, on the banks of the Banas
River. Nathdwara enshrines Shrinathji - an image of Krishna,
which was originally enshrined at the Vraja Bhoomi at Mount
Govardhana near Mathura.
The name Nathdwara means 'Gate of
the Lord'. The image was brought to Mewar, for the sake of
protection during the period of Aurangzeb, the Mughal emperor.
The chariot carrying the image is said to have got stuck here,
and hence a temple was established with the permission of
the then Rana of Mewar, at Nathdwara Tours.
There are several places to see at Tours to Nathdwara. The Shrinathji
Temple is one such tourist attraction.
Shrinathji represents
the form of Krishna who subdued Indra, the king of devas.
The image of Srinathji is believed to have been a self manifested
one.
It was originally worshipped in a humble shrine and then
moved to a larger temple in its surrounding area.
Vallabhacharya
made arrangements for the worship of this deity and this tradition
was continued by his son, Vitthalesh Goswami.
It is believed
that Taj Bibi, a wife of Akbar had visited this temple. It
was during the 17th century that this image was shifted to
Rajasthan.
The Rajsamand Lake is another tourist attraction in Tours to Nathdwara
which is close to Kankroli. It is a dam built by Maharana
Raj Singh in 1660 AD.
Many ornamental arches and 'chhatris'
adorn the embankment. Nav Chowki is a pillared edifice on
the banks of the lake which is paved with marble and has beautifully
carved arches and chhatris'.
It is not very difficult to reach Nathdwara Tours. It is possible
to reach Udaipur by air from where is a one hour drive in
Taxi or bus.
Mavli rail junction is the closest railway station
to Nathdwara. Tour of Nathdwara is also well connected by Mumbai,
Surat, Baroda and Ahmadabad with good motorable roads.
The name of the town literally means the doorway to Nath (dwara: doorway). The town of Nathdwara is also known as the Apollo of Mewar and is famous all over Rajasthan as the residence of Shri Nathji, one of the most popular icons of Lord Krishna.
The town may be small but has gained prominence as a great place of pilgrimage for the Pushtimarga sect of the Vaishnava community, devoted to Krishna as a child. Nathdwara was built after Lord Shri Nathji had settled here.
Rajasthan Nathdwara Tour, the town, lying on the right bank of the Banas River, is a lovely place to visit but should be avoided by all means on Janmashtami and during the Govardhana Puja when the place is overcrowded with pilgrims.
