Jaisamand Wildlife Sanctuary is nestled in picturesque locales
beside san artificial lake known as the Dhevar Lake and was
established in 1957. It extends over an area of 160 sq km.
It is 51 km south east of Udaipur. The Jaisamand Wildlife Sanctuary in Rajasthan is 14 km in length & 9 km in width.The
Dhevar Lake has the circumference of 88 km.
The congenial natural environs of the Jaisamanad Wildlife Sanctuary Rajasthan
is home to innumerable wild species like

- Variety of breeding birds like darter, open bill stork,

The sanctuary is home to wild
animals like Panthers, Wild Bear, Spotted Deer, Sambhars,four
horned antelope.
The Jaisamand Wildlife Sanctuary is most often vivited not
only for the wide variety of wildlife but also because of
the Dhevar Lake, which is believed to be built by Rana Jai
Singh , it was one of the largest lakes in Asia in the year
1691. this lake provided a stunning backdrop to the summer
retreat - "Rubi Rani Ki Mahal".

Legend has it that Rana Jai Singh constructed the Dhevar lake which is 15 ´ 10 kms. and is easily one of the largest lakes in Asia in the year 1691. He constructed the lake, which would provide a perfect backdrop for a summer retreat - "Rubi Rani Ki Mahal".
Today if one were to visit Dhevar Lake, one is sure to fall in love with this rather beautiful lake. For the adventurous tourists, there is an island in the lake where one of the most colorful tribes of Rajasthan - the Bhill tribes dwell.
