"Surf the Whole World. Get what you want"

In Rajasthan, men and women traditionally wore necklaces, armlets, anklets, earings and rings. With the advent of the Mughal Empire, Rajasthan became a major centre for production of the finest kind of jewellery.

It was a true blend of the Mughal with the Rajasthani craftsmanship.

The Mughals brought sophisticated design and technical know-how of the Persian with them.

The common link was the inherently decorative nature of the Muslim and Hindu art.

The synthesis of the two cultures resulted in a period of grandeur and brilliance that dazzled the eyes of foreigners and has passed into legend.

The jewellers of Rajasthan specilised in the setting of precious stones into gold and the enameling of gold.

Jaipur and to some extent Alwar emerged as the enameling centers par excellence in the eighteenth and nineteenth century.

Enameling was introduced by Maharaja Man Singh who had cordial relations with Akbar.

The artistic delicacy and elaborateness in the manufacturing of Rajasthani jewellery made of purest and finest materials is world-renowned.

Rajasthan became famous for its jewellery industry from very early times, being an important source of precious and semi precious stones.

Sophisticated jewellery, set with precious stones using the ‘Kundankari’ technique, or decorated with bright enamel work, known as ‘minakari’, were made for the Rajput courtiers and affluent people.

Handmade Jewellery in Rajasthan - Skillful artisans from Lahore, Delhi, Gujarat, and Bengal, attracted by the liberal patronage of the kings, came to work in Jaipur, Bikaner, Udaipur and Jodhpur .

Jaipur is the centre for gold ‘kundan’ work and a renowned centre for diamond and emerald cutting.

The temple market at Nathdwara is the best place to buy silver ‘kundan’ and ‘meenakari’ work.

Old silver jewellery, which is much in vogue, can be bought in Jaisalmer in every nook and corner of the small bazaar area.

Pratapgarh in Chittaurgarh district is famous for ‘thewa’ jewellery .The red, green, or blue foil below highlights the intricate gold work in the best possible manner.

Rajasthan is also known for the art of silver smithy, beginning from anklets to earrings to head gears. A lot of effort goes into its making since most of the rural communities wear silver ornaments.

Besides silver, it is known for its Lac bangles, Kundan and Minakari, enameled gold jewellery, uncut diamonds and emerald-cutting.

Another most exclusive art is 'thewa' from Chittaur popular for its gold work on glass.

Some of the traditional adornments are Rakhdi (head ornament), Tussi (necklace), Baju Bandh (armlet), Adah (special necklace worn by Rajputs), Gokhrus (bracelets), Pajebs (anklets), etc.
